C'mon a my house...
I know a blog without pictures can hardly be considered a blog. Just think of the earlier picture of Sir Ian during the following.
Okay, you probably missed it. Bet you didn't even record it. But you can't say you weren't invited.
We watched all three hours (with one brief PBS commercial break) and I thought it was outstanding. The fifteen minutes of comments by Ian McKellen following the show were also quite interesting, particularly his insight into Lear's relationship to God (or the gods).
If you feel in a repentant mood and would like to see it you can always come see us. We have it on "My Recordings" along with such gems as "My Fair Lady", "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers", "Hamlet" (Olivier version), "Some Like It Hot", "Tootsie", "2001 A Space Odyssey",
"Brigadoon", "Lawrence of Arabia", "Yankee Doodle Dandy", "The Lost Weekend" and some episodes of "Curious George". All with no commercials.
And by the way, or should that be BTW? ---There WERE explosions. I always watch with "Closed caption for the hearing impaired" on and in the midst of the big battle scene the closed caption said "EXPLOSIONS". Couldn't help laugh out loud in view of comments on my earlier blog. Now aren't you sorry you missed it?
If it's ever repeated "Don't miss it if you can."

I wanted to thank you for your birthday card and cash. I didn't really have another way of contacting you! We miss you guys and hopefully we can see you sometime soon.
Hope you had a happy birthday, Chris. Now --did either of you watch any of "King Lear"?
Sorry Grandpa, but we didn't watch it. We can only record 2 shows at the same time and American Idol and The Office (followed by 30 Rock) were recording. We do have about 30 Curious George episodes recorded. Are you trying to tempt Jack over to your house? Glad you enjoyed "King Lear" though.
"Curious George" is a favorite of Emma Claire Jiayan Haynie CJ Baby Mouse, so we keep a few on hand for her. (I get engrossed in them, too, sometimes.) Looks like I'll have to concede that Shakespeare is no match for American Idol, etc. etc. etc.
Alas!
I confess we didn't watch it, either. I thought about watching it, though, and isn't that the important thing?
"It's the thought that counts..."
and I too must confess I didn't watch it - mostly because of alzheimers - I wanted to watch it, I thought about watching it and then forgot to watch it!

Happy Birthday Chris!
I was in California visiting Julia sans mon propre ordinateur. Desolee!
