"Gee our old LaSalle ran great...."

Feast your eyes on this beauty. It's a 1936 Ford Coupe, with a stainless steel body. Its 85 hp engine runs like a sewing maching after 200,000 miles on it. It's the sole survivor of only four that were made. Insured for $1,500,000.

This car's lines bring back fond memories of my childhood, when all cars looked pretty much like that. (No stainless steel ones, though.) Maybe that's why I like this picture.

Nice car. "Gee our old La Salle ran great..." from "Those Were the Days," the "All in the Family" theme song. Nobody could understand what Archie and Edith were saying when they sang that line ("These are only sour grapes??") In later seasons, as I recall, they had them redo the song and care-ful-ly en-un-ci-ate that line.

Oh my gosh - Archie, Edith, Meathead and, what did he call Sally Struthers..."little girl?" Oh that show brings back memories. It was real to me - the chairs they each sat in, the front door, the stairs leading to the second floor.......
gorgeous car dad by the way - you have always been a car lover :)
Love,
Barb

I've got to stop trying to be clever with my titles; they get more attention than the content.
My brother Jack was the real car lover in the family. One of his,
a 1963 Chrysler 300 is still in the family. Carol's son Brian, who owns a body shop, has it. It will be a collector's item one of these days, if it isn't already.
